Functional Materials: Understanding the Chemistry and Physics of Solids
About this lesson

In this lecture we survey the typical space group symmetries of molecular crystals, and see that space groups that only contain screws, glides, and/or inversions are strongly favored. Then we look at how the ratio of number of molecules per unit cell to the multiplicity of the general position have implications for the structures of these crystals.
