Functional Materials: Understanding the Chemistry and Physics of Solids
About this lesson

This is the second lecture on binary phase diagrams. In this lecture we look at binary and pseudo-binary phase diagrams that feature the formation of intermediate compounds. Congruently melting and incongruently melting compounds are introduced, and strategies for crystal growth are discussed. This lecture was designed and delivered by Patrick Woodward for use in the course Solid State Chemistry (Chem 7330) at Ohio State University.
