Functional Materials: Understanding the Chemistry and Physics of Solids
About this lesson

This lecture provides a concise overview of molecular orbital theory in simple molecules, starting from simple diatomics and building up to small polyhedra, where the ligand orbitals are grouped into SALCs. The molecular orbitals are modeled as linear combinations of atomic orbitals. This lecture was designed and delivered by Patrick Woodward for use in the course Solid State Chemistry (Chem 7330) at Ohio State University.
