Functional Materials: Understanding the Chemistry and Physics of Solids
About this lesson

In this lecture we learn about point symmetry operations – inversion centers, mirror planes, rotation and rotoinversion axes – found in molecules and crystals. We see how the improper rotation axes in the Hermann-Mauguin system used in crystals differ from the Schoenflies system commonly used for molecules.
