Functional Materials: Understanding the Chemistry and Physics of Solids
About this lesson

We begin this lecture by looking at the frequencies of different space groups among organic substances, inorganic substances, and proteins. Then we focus on the crystal structures of extended solids (metallic, ionic and network covalent solids). The high symmetry of these structures places certain constraints on the occupied Wyckoff sites in these types of crystals.
