In this video, the creator of Wolfram Alpha talks about one possible way that ChatGPT could really generate new knowledge: by interfacing with Wolfram’s computational tools, it may be possible for AI to generate new knowledge by asking questions that haven’t been through of before and getting answers to them through computation engines.

I think some of the use-cases for education can be applied to research. He emphasises the importance regulating AI to prevent negative use-cases, and focus on using it to enhance human intelligence, potential and purpose.

It will be interesting to see what comes of this: whether other countries follow suit or whether it just blows over.
