About this course

This business problem solving course cuts through much of the complexity often encountered in problem-solving and performance improvement methodologies in corporate environments. The content focuses on the key practical tools, know-how and real-life examples that can be readily implemented within workplaces to uplift Quality Management and foster a culture of Continuous Improvement.

The course is structured as a series of videos that help learners understand their problems and provides structured ways to analyse and solve them. In between these sessions, participants are given templates to complete for an actual workplace problem of their choice.

  • Defining Problem and Goal statements
  • Managing scope using a SIPOC
  • Describing process steps and process roles using a Swimlane diagram and RACI
  • Analysing the flow of work for Value and Waste
  • Cause and Effect (Ishikawa) diagrams
  • Getting to root cause using 5 Whys
  • Prioritising potential solutions using a Value-Effort (PICK) matrix
  • Piloting, following up and rolling out tested solutions
  • Practically applying Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) using an A3 Problem Solving Summary
